Michael Racheter Robotics & Automation Scholarship Award

Michael Racheter Robotics & Automation Scholarship Award

This Scholarship fund has been established by the family of Michael Racheter through Conestoga College in honour of him and the Robotics and Automation Program from which Michael himself graduated with Honours in 2006.

Michael knew from an early age that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his Father, Uncle, and Grandfather, who were all prominent Engineers . A calling to which he set out and accomplished by being hired by ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc. in Cambridge as a Mechanical Designer the same year he graduated from Conestoga.

He had a profound curiosity, and always needed to know how things worked. A passion he carried with him wherever he went. Michael enjoyed exploring of all sorts, whether it was through his chosen profession, the outdoors, travel, or fine food. He grew up an avid Scout with Scouts Canada, and knew what it meant to try to make the world a better place, and live with integrity and character. He was always giving of his time and efforts to those around him.

Michael was a warm, gentle hearted, and ambitious young man, with a great sense of humour.

He had a profound love for his family and shared a close bond with his Mother, brothers and niece. He was extremely proud of his Swiss heritage (particularly the fondue recipe he had mastered) and travelled to Switzerland to visit relatives.

Tragically, in July of 2016, Michael, along with a fellow co-worker, died in a car accident.
