Keynote -The Power of Wonder: The process of creative expression and inquiry in action
Melissa Mazar is the owner and visionary artist behind The Children’s Art Factory, a magical space where children are free to explore, create, make, and learn in a unique and inspiring environment where anything is possible.
Melissa will share her stories, enthusiastic passion and beliefs that set the foundation for the experiences and play based opportunities she creates for young children. Through a rich visual display, Melissa will share how a child’s powerful sense of wonder contributes to creativity, and how process orientated experiences lead children to foster a disposition for inquiry as they discover the world around them.

Once a child has explored a raw material, they will instinctively want to experiment further with deconstructing that material, evoking the scientist in all of us! Through provocations, the action of transforming materials and reconstructing them and the magic that takes place in children's play through making, participants will explore how learning happens.

Kim Krueger-Kischak, B.Ed., Foundations in Family Literacy Certificate
Four foundations - Belonging, engagement, well-being and expression - form the basis of what we know about how learning happens. How do early literacy and math fit into these foundations? Let's talk, play, read and sing to explore the connections! Join the discussion about how we can foster these foundations in our work. We'll also look at local examples and different ways of communicating about this with children, families and the broader community.

While the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice is printed in black and white, there are many times when you must use your professional judgment to deal with the grey areas in your ethical and professional practice. Join the College of Early Childhood Educators and your colleagues to discuss some of the challenging issues that you can face as a registered early childhood educator. Become aware of resources from the College that may assist in guiding you through ethical dilemmas. Consider some real life examples where RECEs have been challenged in their practice, decision-making and behaviour.

Stress affects us all, regardless of where you work within the early learning sector. In this interactive workshop participants will discuss the concept of "stress", identify triggers, the impact it has on our well-being and on our professional practice. Together we will explore strategies such as self-reflection, strengthening professional relationships, communication with children and families and the importance of 'self'.
